What is Liminal Horror Investigators?

Liminal Horror is a rules-lite, adaptable survival-horror roleplaying game about normal characters and their struggles against the things that go bump in the night. The game focuses on surviving the weird and investigating horrors while blending simple, old-school inspired rules with modern, narrative first principles. Survival is NOT guaranteed and those that do make it through the night are often forever changed. 

Liminal Horror Investigators is a free, table-ready version of the core rules for players and facilitators can be accessed through any of the following means:

The Investigators Edition is intentionally kept in print for its usability at the table, and easy access to fully compatible core rules for all (through different modes).

What is Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition?

Deluxe Edition is a revised, enhanced and expanded core rulebook for LIMINAL HORROR. It includes all-new player options, a robust toolkit for Facilitators, a catalog of factions, cults, horrors, and artifacts, a fully-detailed setting guide, and optional rules, lore, advice, and references in a fully-illustrated 350+ page hardcover book.

It is also fully backwards-compatible with all previously-released LIMINAL HORROR rules and adventures, so whether you're a die-hard fan or just now joining the party, this book is designed to be everything you need to run any sub-genre of modern horror at your table!

NOTE: this is explicitly not a "2nd Edition" of LIMINAL HORROR. We prefer to think of it as an enhancement: LIMINAL HORROR: Investigators will remain in print and contains all the basic tools you need to play or run adventures in the LIMINAL HORROR system.

What about starter adventures?

We have two starter scenarios available for Liminal Horror. 

1. The first is Stopover at the Shelterwood Inn, a free adventure that follows our starter framework and presents a night that goes from bad to worse. This scenario has threads that connect to multiple other official modules and releases. You can download Shelterwood from it's itch.io page (but we've also provided the files alongside the Investigator Edition).

2. Einfühlung is another starter scenario made possible by the backers during the Deluxe Edition campaign. This haunted house scenario provides nearly everything you need to jump in to play for both brand new and well-seasoned players. Take the role of the cast and crew of This Mysterious Life, a paranormal investigation television show, as they dive into the depths of the Campbell House attempting to discover the fate of its missing owner. But locked away in Katherine's studio is a sinister secret, one that threatens the lives of all who enter this house.
